Sometimes having a greater variety makes it difficult to make a decision. I can certainly say that this was the case for the visual assignment. After an hour of browsing, I finally decided on Assignment 487. I selected a picture of hip-hop/R&B artist Chris Brown and Drake since they recently got into a melee at a NYC club. This is certainly another black eye for the hip-hop culture. Two young successful artist’s simply not thinking logically and not serving as role models to their younger fan base by getting into a scuffle over another female celebrity that wasn’t even present at the time.
Hope you enjoy the picture and quote!
After searching through the DS106 assignments I thought for a minute that I would not be able to find one that I would enjoy, but as I browsed through page four, I came across assignment 95 “Celebrity Radio Interview”.
As an avid sports fan and passionate baseball fan, I immediately knew that this assignment was a great fit for me. I quickly decided to focus on conducting an interview for NY Yankees third basmen Alex Rodriguez.
I started by searching for any interviews on YouTube and was able to find a recent interview where he talks about several topics. I quickly recorded the interview in its entirety using Sony’s Sound Forge Audio Studio. I was able to play the YouTube clip while I recorded the audio on sound forge. I later drafted some questions related to his day to day and listened to the recorded material to search for what I would be able to use as answers to my question. I used a sports talk radio theme for my interview. I was able to record my introduction and then asked all the questions one after another leaving silence gaps in between. I saved the file and later opened the A-Rod interview and copy and pasted what I felt were appropriate answers for the questions I drafted. I certainly enjoyed playing the role of a sports talk radio host for one of my favorite players.
Hope you enjoy the interview!
Evelyn and I partnered up to create a portable heater. This heater maker project is a science and technology project for the future. Students can create their own modern forms of technology such as a mini heater as well, maybe even their own versions of vacuums, or televisions- its nice to think that students can use their imaginations to recreate modern technologies. Other than science and technology, this maker project can date back to centuries and a lesson can be made for a History class as well. This project can also be used for students outside of the classroom, like in the wilderness. Creating a portable heater is not only savvy but useful. Think, “need to boil water to drink during this camping trip- thats right! I have my portable heater!” Just some wonders of science people, thanks!

The level of difficulty is without a doubt a two star. I did not know where to begin at first, but then remembered that my computer had “Garage Band“. I opened it for the first time since I bought my notebook back in 2010. Wow I know. Technology is amazing. The most difficult part was saving it into AAC. At first I thought I would just save it as AAC when “Save As” was clicked, but sadly that was not the case. I had to click on “Share” and then click on “Send song to itunes” where it would automatically save it as AAC version. The less difficult part was adding my audio to Sound Cloud and then posting it.
This being said I recorded myself speaking English with a Russian accent by inspiration of DS106, May I take your order? audio project. While recording this clip, I thought about my father and his german, russian, polish, uruguayan, argentinian accents. He’s such a character. Over the years I have found to be doing the same when I read to my son. It’s crazy how unknowingly educators also change their voice when reading to young children. It grabs their attention, makes them giggle, makes it fun.
So for my audio assignment I across this very humorous assignment that asked me to pose as a customer at McDonald’s and pretty much give the worker a hard time. I am doing exactly what a customer did to me one time while I worked at Burger King. I am also of course doing a bit of exaggerating so i decided to tease the person on the register using my best Jamaican accent. 🙂

Inspirational DS106, splash the color assignment was not so much challenging to computer savvy’s . I for one are not and I immediately opened a video tutorial: splash the color. I found it very, very, very helpful. Above is my loving, adorable, very active pet Lily. This picture was one of the pictures that I took when I first brought her home. Another picture that I was inspired to do is this one below. I call it One Rose Among Many Roses. I think I might have actually mastered this assignment.
So upon doing the video assignment from ds106 I hit a few bumps in the road trying to make sure the visual matched the audio as close as possible. Despite all else I did enjoy using my creative mind to do this assignment. I decide to do the assignment “Make a Montage”, where I had to take clips that matched what Katy Perry was signing about in her song “Last Friday Night”. I worked diligently on this and hope that you guys enjoy it as much as I enjoyed doing it.

As a future educator assignments such as this one, my students can their favorite TV shows or songs into their own Montage of funny clips of themselves and friends.
My assignment for my visual portion of DS106 is entitled, ” I made tea.” In this assignment, I was asked to maintain the information I felt was necessary from a long selected paragraph, short story, etc. You are asked to distort the words until you find the meaning of the right stuff at the end based on your personal findings. It’s pretty interesting.
http://assignments.ds106.us/assignments/i-made-tea/I chose Plato: The Apology: and this is my remaining gist:
“Why is this, Socrates, and what is the origin of I dare say, Athenians, that someone among you will reply, “Why is this, Socrates, and what is the origin of these accusations of you: for there must have been something strange which you have been doing? All this great fame and talk about you would never have arisen if you had been like other men: tell us, then, why this is, as we should be sorry to judge hastily of you.” If you ask me what kind of wisdom, I reply, such wisdom as is attainable by man, for to that extent I am inclined to believe that I am wise; whereas the persons of whom I was speaking have a superhuman wisdom, which I may fail to describe, because I have it not myself; and he who says that I have, speaks falsely, and is taking away my character. And here, O men of Athens, I must beg you not to interrupt me, even if I seem to say something extravagant.
Here is my first visual assignment completed with a little help form Prof. Smith. It was a little difficult to complete because I do not have photoshop installed in my mac. Sad, I know. I think DS106 is one of the websites that I will visit more often, so many innovating and creative projects that are done by so many.
This picture was taken by myself in a company picnic last July. At first my idea was to create a before and after picture because it was challenging to jump forward and also be able to go under the net. The aftermath of the net challenge was hilarious. See below
One way I can use what I have learned here today in a classroom is to do the one shot project to look at cell division.
This my Audio assignment, I did this one first actually but couldn’t figure how to post it so I noticed everyone else doing audio just link the URL, so here’s mine- enjoy!
Create a cartoon character voice and record it through sound cloud, It can be made up or you can mimic your favorite character.
Pepe le pew advertising for dominos pizza
How did I make this?
I created this audio by using sound cloud, and embedded the audio into this post, using its URL. It is important for future students to be able to do projects like this because students are able to be creative. Students can always use this skill for future projects that involve computers. I believe that students will be willing to learn this skill because it can be used in powerpoints, while speaking in front of peers, projects, and someday a job they’ll have. Learning to create an audio file is a great way for students to show confidence in their works as well, and to share their own thoughts, views, and ideas.
